TANZANIA RECOMMENDED FOR COMING UP WITH THE TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT

Tanzania has been commended for coming up with the extractive industries transparency and accountability act, which compels companies in the extractives sector to disclose their financial status. 


Journalists from Uganda, Tanzania and Ghana made the remarks yesterday when speaking at the two- week training on strengthening Media oversight of the extractives sectors 2016.


They said establishment of that act is successful stories on development of gas sector.


The act requires extractive industry companies to disclose to the Committee accurate records of the cost of production, capital expenditures at every stage of investment, volumes of production and export data from extractive industry company in every financial year;  promote the effective citizen participation and awareness of extractive industry companies and its contribution to socio-economic development.
